Autumn in Orange

Should you manage to make it to Orange during April or May, you are in for a real treat as you soon discover why the Colour City gets its name.

Every street you walk down is adorned with colour as the trees do their autumnal thing to striking effect. As you stroll along, you can enjoy the crunch of leaves underfoot with crisp blue skies above. It is amazing how the change in season really can really take you back to your childhood as you wonder at the colour and falling leaves.

The days are still sunny (often with a chilly start) and the local orchards are jam packed (excuse the pun) with fantastic local produce. We highly recommend heading out to pick your own fruit (Hillside Orchard is our favourite), especially if you have young children. They will love getting their own bucket to fill and picking fresh from the tree.

A walk around Lake Canoblas or Cook Park is beautiful during autumn and allows you to get some fantastic photos no matter what sort of photographic ability you possess. In the evenings the temperature drops, which makes an outdoor fire and glass of red wine the perfect ending to a beautiful day.

If you haven't experienced autumn in Orange yet, I highly recommend booking in a trip soon.
