We came to Orange for a weekend break in January 2009 and loved it so much that we ended up moving here! The cool climate and four seasons really remind us of the UK, where I'm from originally, and the great wine and fresh produce right on the doorstep were a major draw card.
When we first moved here, there was no affordable accommodation in Orange, so we decided to build a studio in our garden that would be perfect for couples wanting a weekend getaway. We opened the doors of Dalton St Studio in 2012 and have been happily hosting guests ever since.
In 2014 we took the plunge and bought an old cottage just around the corner from our house and began major renovations. We turned a very dated three bedroom cottage into a light filled, luxurious space perfect for families wanting a country escape. Darling Cottage is hugely popular both for corporate stays and weekend breaks as it boasts a peaceful location a short stroll from town.
Casa Dolce was the next cottage to get some of our renovation magic in February 2015. The cottage again has 3 bedrooms and a huge garden filled with trees and a gorgeous outdoor entertaining area.
The next renovation, completed in December 2016 was Dreamer's Cottage located on Lord's Place. This labour of love boasts a brand new kitchen, bathroom, paint work throughout along with fresh landscaping and is ideal for families or those with pets.
We furnished all the cottages ourselves trying to include all the little extras that we enjoy whenever we travel. You can’t beat relaxing in front of the outdoor fire with a glass of red wine on a cool autumn night. We’ve stocked the pantry with all the basics and made sure you have a bottle of local wine waiting for you on arrival. All our cottages are family friendly and pet friendly as we know what it is like taking the whole family away on holiday.
We have two dogs ourselves, English Pointers called Bailey (9 ) and Lucy (2) who love meeting new guests at Dalton St Studio. Bailey and Lucy have inspected the secure fencing at all of the cottages and confirmed that they are indeed dog proof!
Orange isn’t just a country town it is a cosmopolitan hotspot that attracts a wide range of talented people. As well as great events throughout the year, there are some wonderful cellar doors to visit, shops to browse and fresh produce to sample. We love to make guests feel welcome the moment they walk in the door. We provide plenty of suggestions and advice to help you plan the perfect trip to the region. We live very close to the cottages so we are on hand should you need anything during your stay.
